Who says humans are the only ones with a purpose? Think of everything you do in your business or job – most, if not all, things you do and decisions you make have some kind of purpose. So what is your swag for? Companies don’t buy swag just for the sake of buying swag…they want to promote an event, advertise a new service, drive traffic to a store or online, or hope to generate revenues from it.
When people come to us to talk swag, one of the first things I want to find out is the purpose of the swag – it’s like a creative doing advertising for a client. What is the purpose of this advertisement? Who is the target audience? How do we speak to this audience on a rational or emotional level? How do we get the target audience to complete an action?
All of this applies to swag…it’s not a cheap gimmick, but a tangible advertisement. It is something more personal…something someone can take home with them and use. Something that speaks to the audience…where is my Boston Pizza ball marker? Mmm, Boston Pizza…I think I’ll go there after a round for a couple beers and a bite to eat.
Just as we have talked about ROI of your branded promotional products, your swag must have a purpose. So, first question, what is yours?
