Looks like almost everyone is on the same page here - I think the shade of the red with the "drop" has become synonymous with blood services, so would be confusing without text. I also like a font that can be recognized apart from the logo, whereas this one is just...bland. Not definable by any means.

Thanks for all the comments!

I prefer old logo over new however do see the advantages of simplicity in scaleability. Agree with comment above re Canadian Blood Services. I would sooner take the approach of simplifying the old design...perhaps removing the wrap-around banner and simplifying text/colours into the centre.

I'm a fan of the new logo. This one is simple and straight to the point but still has some character. The points you make on use-ability and sizing also make it nicer.
The old logo appears old fashioned, which can be a positive, but I think Seattle's Best is looking for a more contemporary audience. The old logo is too busy for that.
In the modern world things need to be quick to look at, simple but eye-catching, the pace of the world is only increasing!

Simplicity is great, but I feel like I'm buying coffee from the Canadian Blood Services. Not appealing.
Nice logo, but not appropriate for a coffee co. Maybe if they changed the colour scheme?

It screams "Coffee: Brought to you by the Red Cross" to me. It's very bland, I find, and looks a lot like other corporate logos I've seen—couldn't place what, offhand, but it does seem very generic. I think their old logo was better.

Personally, I like the new one. I love clear and simple graphics. And you're right, the new one could be placed on nearly anything. The old one's colours, shades and line are begging to clash with something.

The new logo is teh suxorz.

The old logo has an older-school (without being ancient or outdated) label that looks appropriate on retail packaging. The old one boldly says "we are premium. You will like this coffee." The new one says, "I am a water purification plant."
